As the days grow closer to the election Obama is appearing to scramble more to hang on to losing ground. He’s taking the traditional lashing out and cookie cutter lines that brought down Kerry, like his response to the total collapse on wall street today.
Obama blamed Bush’s “policies” and said McCain would just bring “more of the same”. What is pretty laughable about the whole thing is if he did any research, and I don’t even mean much, just google it, he’d find out that the reglatory policies used to control the home mortgage business are FDR era policies. OH he’d also know that the United States Congress influenced and regulated Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac they bailed out the other day.
Friends of Obama, like his good buddy Teddy Rezko made a fortune screwing people in the real estate market. Heck, he even screwed Obama!! It wasn’t “Bush’s Policies” that created this mess, it was “greed” as pointed out by John McCain. I suppose if Obama wanted to blame policies, he could blame the policies created by FDR during the great depression, or the Federal Housing Agency, or the United States Congress which he is apart of…but I don’t blame them…I blame greed.
This entire collapse of our economic system was driven purely based on greed. You could regulate it, but it wouldn’t have mattered. All the regulations in the world would not have stopped the abuse of power, and gross negligence exercised by leaders of all major banks. McCain is right, they used wall street like a slot machine and the people who are paying the price is the American taxpayer…regulations wouldn’t have stopped that.
Regulators wouldn’t have been able to stop the trillions of dollars worth of loans issued on stated income only or subprime, or ATM’s. Keep in mind, the government is the same people who take over six weeks to renew a passport, did such a successful job providing aide to Katrina, and take up to eight weeks to approve treatment from Medicare. It would take six months to get a home loan if they had these new “policies” and “regulations!” Most of the rich people in the country would get rejected because they hide there money and cheat on there taxes so they wouldn’t “qualify.”
The tragedy that is the housing collapse in the country is similar to that of Enron. It isn’t a story of failures, but a story of tragedy. Even though everybody had there hands in the cookie jar, there was one man who’s fall from the top would took everybody down with him. As the saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Angelo Mozilo, CEO of Countrywide, was king of the mortgage business, and truly defined the American Dream as the son of a Bronx butcher. He was a visionary, a leader, an inspiration to everyone, and changed the mortgage business forever. He helped a lot of American’s get homes.
…but he will go down in history as one of the key people who helped collapse the US economy because he was unable to swallow his pride, and driven by greed.
We all have dreams. God Bless America

Everybody laughed at me, but I did it, I went with my gut feeling and bought Countrywide Stock (and as much as I could afford) at a practical steal for $3.00 a share.
Everybody laughed at me when Bank of America converted my quite a bit of Countrywide into not a whole lot of Bank of America stock.
Everybody laughed (and laughs) as Bank of America keeps getting the teeth knocked out of them in the market…but today I became a share holder in the largest bank in the world…in 10 years when the stock splits 5 times, I will sell for a mighty mighty profit.

Picking a VP is the most important thing a candidate can do. In the event that something were to ever happen to the president that would prevent him from doing his job, the Vice President needs to be ready to step in and take over. The one thing I agree with Obama and picking his VP is it will be the most important decision he makes, and one that will be very telling about all other decisions he makes as they will influence him. He was very clear about this to CNN:
“the most important decision that I will make before I am president,” the senator from Illinois said he would “be deliberate and systematic about it, because this will be my final counselor when I am making decisions in the White House, and I want to make sure I get it right.”
So in picking Joe Biden I was left scratching my head. If picking your VP was going to be one of the most important decisions you made what the heck are you picking Joe Biden for? Don’t get my wrong, the guy is an experienced Washington insider, but still, when you could pick Hillary Clinton or even Bill Richardson why in the heck would you pick Joe Biden? Hillary Clinton was the obvious best choice for Obama to pick as a running mate, and evidently I’m not the only one who thinks that.
Old Joe Biden seems to agree with me too. Recently in New Hampshire stumping for his boss Obama, Joe Biden said that Hillary Clinton was qualified to be president, and more specifically might even be a better choice than him.
Here is the full text:
“Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America,” Biden said. “Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend; she is qualified to be president of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me, but she is first-rate.” - Joe Biden
Well Joe, you’re right. Hillary Clinton is quailified to be president, and is more qualified than you. She also is probably a better pick than you as well.
So what say this about Obama’s decisions? Does this mean that Joe BIden isn’t qualified? Well I don’t know that you can quantify one’s qualifications purely based on knowledge. Joe Biden is smart, and he does have a lot of Washington insider experience, but he can’t keep from putting his foot in his mouth. I’m a smart person, and I know that he was merely trying to defend a friend while being modest, but that doesn’t change the fact he said that.
What does that say about his qualifications? It shows me he doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut — an issue our sitting President also has. I think knowing what to say and when to say it something that makes a strong leader. You can’t show weakness, but you can’t chop your finger off and hold back tears either.
Joe BIden is right, Hillary would have been a better choice for VP, in fact, Hillary would have been a better choice for democrats in November.
In the last 3 weeks a lot has changed. McCain is still ahead in polls, and this is not a convention bump. The convention ended and McCain was still sunk in the polls. He came back though and now his poll numbers are climbing. I don’t think the democrats expected Gov Palin. I don’t think they saw that choice coming. It has certainly appeared to catch them off guard and really effected there strategy.
Last night on Letterman Obama talked about why he picked Biden and how great of a choice he is…but with Biden making gaffs like that it just makes Obama look really bad.
The democrats took the easiest election for them to win since Hoover vs Roosevelt or Ford vs Carter and turned it into about as hard of an election as Bush vs Gore or Dewey vs Truman.
